Stefano Canto

Born in Rome in 1974, he received a degree in Architecture in 2003.

His solo and group exhibitions include the recent showing at the MACRO Museum in Rome and at Museo Riso in Palermo, following the residency at N38E13. Furthermore, in 2010 he was one of the winners of Premio Terna.

His artstic pursuit moves from the poetry of objects to that of places, traversing the social implications inherent to the relationship between the natural and urban environments and between man and architecture.

Projects developed with DATABASE

In 2012 he took part in the first edition of DATABASE within the group exhibition The Stones are My Ideas of Imagination, curated by Mike Watson and showcased at the Marble Museum of Carrara from December 15th 2012 to February 2013. The artist’s works, selected by the curator, carry out a philological research into the construction of the Monolith, the obelisk laced in Foro Italico in 1932, ideally linking the cities of Rome and Carrara.

From the 23rd to the 27th of October 2014, two of the artist’s pieces will be displayed within the DATABASE and Galleria Duomo stand at MIA&D, the international photography and design fair of Singapore, hosted at Marina Bay Sands.

A number of his works are available for viewing and purchase at the DATABASE showroom located in Palazzo Forti in Via Buonarroti 1, Carrara.
